Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurants is looking for a Staff Accountant to support the growth of the business. This position is responsible for supporting the accounting close process, fixed asset support, vendor maintenance, bank reconciliations, business taxes and customer refunds and charges. As a part of the Accounting and Finance team, this position is located at the Restaurant Support Center in Downers Grove, IL.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support weekly, period, quarter, and year-end accounting close activities
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations and work-papers
- Analyze accounting results, investigate variances and document findings
- Review fixed asset invoices to determine if they meet the company’s accounting policies to be considered a fixed asset and have the correct account coding
- Support the personal property tax preparation and review
- Process new vendor setup and vendor maintenance requests
- Prepare and file sales and excise taxes
- Support E-commerce sales and reporting
- Research, process and record customer refunds and charges
- Work with business partners to obtain information supporting accounting records
- Help ensure compliance with internal control policies and procedures
- Assist with external audits
- Assist with new restaurant opening process and reporting
- Supports process improvement and electronic documentation initiatives
- Perform other routine and non-routine functions as assigned by management
SKILLS & OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Must represent Cooper's Hawk values
- 2-5 years of accounting experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting required
- Restaurant, retail or public accounting experience preferred
- Customer service focused mentality with internal and external partners
- Self-starter with willingness to work hands-on
- Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and accounting systems
- Strong communication skills and leadership abilities
- Excellent planning and organization skills
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
